The Maternal and Child Health (MCH) Department is a critical clinical and public health unit dedicated to safeguarding the health and well-being of mothers, newborns, infants, and children. The department delivers integrated services spanning reproductive, antenatal, perinatal, postnatal, and pediatric care, with a strong focus on reducing maternal and child morbidity and mortality, in alignment with national and global health priorities. Core Functions Antenatal and Postnatal Care: Comprehensive monitoring and support for expectant and new mothers, including nutrition counseling, danger sign detection, and routine checkups. Safe Delivery Services: Skilled birth attendance, emergency obstetric care (EmOC), and facility-based deliveries including normal and cesarean births. Newborn and Infant Care: Neonatal resuscitation, essential newborn care, early breastfeeding initiation, and immunization. Family Planning & Reproductive Health: Contraceptive services, fertility counseling, adolescent reproductive health education, and birth spacing guidance. Growth Monitoring & Nutrition: Regular screening for growth, development, and malnutrition in children under five, with timely intervention. Key Services Offered Antenatal registration, lab investigations, and ultrasonography Labor and delivery management (normal and C-section) Kangaroo mother care (KMC) for low-birth-weight infants Expanded Program on Immunization (EPI) Counseling on exclusive breastfeeding and complementary feeding Integrated Management of Childhood Illnesses (IMCI) Micronutrient supplementation and anemia control High-risk pregnancy and referral management.
