The Immunization Department is a dedicated public health unit responsible for the administration, monitoring, and coordination of all vaccination services within the healthcare facility. As a critical preventive care division, the department plays a central role in protecting individuals and communities from vaccine-preventable diseases (VPDs), while supporting national health priorities and global immunization targets. Core Functions Routine Immunization Services: Delivery of vaccines according to the National Immunization Schedule (NIS) for infants, children, adolescents, pregnant women, and adults. Cold Chain and Vaccine Logistics: Ensuring vaccine potency through compliant storage, handling, and transport in line with WHO and national cold chain protocols. Adverse Events Monitoring: Surveillance and reporting of Adverse Events Following Immunization (AEFI), with appropriate case management and documentation. Health Education & Counseling: Providing vaccine information, safety assurance, and immunization schedule awareness to caregivers and the public. Catch-up and Outreach Activities: Addressing immunization gaps through mobile clinics and special campaigns for hard-to-reach or underserved populations. Key Services Provided BCG, OPV, Pentavalent, PCV, Rotavirus, MR, and other childhood vaccines Tetanus-diphtheria (Td) and influenza vaccines for pregnant women Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine for adolescent girls Hepatitis B, rabies, COVID-19, and adult flu vaccines Travel vaccinations and booster dose administration Coordination with government programs (e.g., National Immunization Program - NIP)
